One of my favorite cookies for the holidays is butter nut balls, some people just call them butter balls, either way they taste great. Here is a recipe I got from one of my good friends that I used last year at my Christmas Party. If you try the recipe let me know what you think.Butter Nut BallsIngredients1 cup butter, 1/4 cup sugar, 2 cups flour, 1 Tablespoon vanilla, 1 1/2 cups mashed pecans, powdered sugarImage by Stephie189 via FlickrCream butter thoroughly. Add balance of ingredients except powdered sugar. Roll into balls about walnut size. Place on ungreased cookie sheet for 35 minutes in 300 degree oven. Roll in powdered sugar immediately and cool on waxed paper. (Cookies may be made in advance and frozen.

  • Paranormal Movie Night Party
Posted on Sunday, October 11th, 2009 in Party Activities – Comments: (0)
Has anyone seen the preview or movie “Paranormal Activity”? It is only being played in about 3,000 theaters in the whole country, and is out grossing all new release movies. It is filmed in the “Blair Witch Project” format. I seen the preview for this movie and it’s totally off the hook! This family is being haunted by a poltergeist or some type of demon. It would be great to see this movie on Halloween night. Could you imagine people dressed up in their scary Halloween costumes and masks, but having the life scared out of them watching this film. If anyone has seen the actual movie, let me hear your feed back about it, since it is not yet being shown where we live.

  • Class Reunion To Class Birthday Party
Posted on Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 in Themed Party Ideas – Comments: (0)
We recently celebrated our 30 year class reunion. We decided to have it in an outdoor pavilion, casual dress with a cookout style catered dinner. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was totally laid back and comfortable and the “Back Yard” style dinner instead of being uncomfortable in suits, dresses, and paying for a $50.00 a plate dinner. We usually have our reunion every five years. At this our 30 year reunion class-mates started talking about a 50 year class birthday party. What a blast that would be! Everyone loved the thought of staying with the laid back atmosphere. During our reunion we had already narrowed our birthday theme down to a Luau or a 50′s Sock Hop. We have actually planned for both ideas. As far as party supplies and decorations go. The committee that was quickly formed will soon be taking a class vote. For the Luau themed party some party decoration ideas were: Tiki torches – in ground and table top styles paper lanterns and small decorative string lights faux palm trees Luau party music Luau – Caribbean costumes and leis Tropical design place settings Thinking of having a limbo contestFor the 50′s Sock Hop themed party some party ideas were: Neon food signs 50′s music for the stroll Class mates could show in poodle skirts and leather jacketsRight now the food is undecided, but we were tossing around the idea of baked hams and pineapples with everyone bringing a side dish.

  • Making Of A Man Cave
Posted on Tuesday, September 29th, 2009 in Party Activities – Comments: (0)
The new craze sweeping the country is the “Man Cave”. Simply put a man cave is a mans private retreat to relax after a long days work. The best thing about it is they can be inexpensive to furnish and any room can be used. The floor covering could be inexpensive carpet, an area rug, vinyl tile, or even painted concrete would do. Next is furniture. An old couch, a recliner, and a table or rack to hold your favorite magazines would be enough to start. Next a man cave is not complete without a TV and stereo. Themes are always great when decorating your room. Your man cave can be decorated in what ever you love. from the Civil War to sports. If football is your thing go to a thrift store or flea market and your sure to find old pictures and posters to frame. For your Sunday football games invite your friends over and have a party.

First and foremost one of the best themed party tips I can give you is this. First you’ll want to invite company you get pleasure from being with, and have heaps in common. This way any party theme you select will be pleasant. Some really good party ideas are: a card night, 50’s and 60’s party, dinner party, any family activity, or even a movie party. Any of these themes are sure to entertain.
  • Wedding Table Centerpiece
Posted on Monday, June 1st, 2009 in Party Decoration Ideas – Comments: (0)
My friend is getting married and was asking me for advise on a wedding table centerpiece. After being told she would have two bottles of champagne sitting at each table, I told her she could just dress up the bottles with some champagne bottle wear for a great centerpiece. You see Champagne Bottle Wear fits over the bottles of champagne or wine and has one outfit with a bride’s dress (white dress and lace and pearls). The other has a black tuxedo jacket  (black tie and white rose boutonniere). She loved the idea, stating it would even end up saving her money!Related articles by Zemanta Break Tradition – Save Money! • Home Party Games
Posted on Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 in Party Games – Comments: (0)
When debating what type of home party games to play at your theme party, there are a few ideas I have for you to keep in mind. When determining what games to play keep in mind those games which have a participant being removed. Once a participant is out of the game, they are no longer involved in the merriment and tend to get bored. As an instance playing a board or card game such as Texas holdem or monopoly in which participants do get removed, they could sit for hours before the game comes to a completion. When your games involve scoring, try to make sure it’s a team based game and not separately, so that you can have group participation and win or lose as a team and not an individual. Whether this is a huge or little party all games should be entertaining for both the participants and those who choose to be viewers.

  • Luau Party Decorations
Posted on Sunday, May 10th, 2009 in Party Decoration Ideas – Comments: (0)
Luau’s are one of the most fun and easy parties to decorate for. With a few well placed plastic palm trees, and lighting up the area with colorful or floral paper lanterns you have a great start. You can then place pineapples on your tables as center peices, if you don’t like that try a pillar candle with sea shells around it. For an outside party you could also light up a few tiki torches for the ambeiance, greet your guests with  leis and a kiss on the cheek. For your guest tables I’ve seen grass skirting that can be used. As far as your guests are concerned have them follow along with your luau party decorations. Have them be sure to wear grass skirts, coconut bras, or bikini tops, bright baggy shorts, even bright floral dresses.Be sure to leave a comment and tell others some of your Luau Party Decoration Ideas.
  • Xmas Party Games
Posted on Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 in Party Games – Comments: (0)
One of my favorite Xmas party games is a questionnaire made up by myself after watching years of Christmas stories and cartoons. The following is a list of some of the questions I’ve used in the past.Use these, then add some of your own. As I ask the questions, I hand out a small candy cane to the person who answers correctly. The guest with the most candy canes wins. QUESTIONS: What was the name of Rudolf’s girlfriend? Not including Rudolf name all 8 of Santa’s Reindeer? What brought Frosty to life? What was the name of the little girl who helped frosty get to the North Pole? How many sizes did the Grinches’ heart grow? What was the name of the Grinches’ dog? In the movie “The Christmas Story” what type of pajamas did Ralphie’s aunt give him for Christmas? In “The Christmas Story” what did Ralphie’s dad win in a contest?

  • Pirate Birthday Party
Posted on Sunday, May 3rd, 2009 in Party Activities – Comments: (0)
Shiver me Timbers, if it’s a Pirate Birthday Party your maties are wanting, it’s a blast you’ll be having.Pirate party’s are one of the most popular theme party ideas to have. One of the most popular party activities would be a treasure hunt. Using a crumpled brown paper bag, create clues. Give the first clue to the captain of the pirates (the birthday boy or girl), and using pirate vocabulary describe where they (the birthday guests) can find the next clue, finally ending with them finding the hidden treasure chest, these can be found in most craft stores. The treasure chest itself should have enough in it to have something for each guest for their treat bags. You can fill the treasure chest with lots of fun items such as chocolate gold coins, gold fish crackers, eye patches, a dew rag for their head. Most of these items can be found at a discount.

  • Holiday Party Activities
Posted on Saturday, April 25th, 2009 in Party Activities – Comments: (0)
One of my favorite Holiday Party Activities is a cookie party. It cuts your Christmas baking time in half.To start your holiday party, invite about 12 friends (although the amount of people will be up to you). Have each guest let you know what type of cookie they are baking (making sure no one picks the same cookie). I let each person know to bake 12 1/2 dozen of their cookie choice and to wrap the 12 dozen cookies in individual packages of 1 dozen each. With the additional 1/2 dozen, I have them get creative and bring them displayed, to be judged by everyone at the party. An example would be, one year a guest displayed their cookies inside an old fashioned looking sled that measured about 15″ long. We try to come up with ideas that we could use during our Christmas Holiday Party to display our cookies in an appetizing way. This contest has become very competitive over the years.

Themed Caribbean Parties are great to have any time of year. Indoors or outdoors there always lots of fun. If you’re looking for some Themed Party Ideas here are a few.Invitations: Here is a cool idea a friend of mine tried. Write your party information on the back of each flip flop and hand deliver to your guests.  I’m sure they will love the idea.Attire: Have your guests come dressed in your themed party style. You could suggest they wear bright colorful cloths, a cool pair of cut off’s, a light summery dress, and of course flip flops optional.Music: how about a CD with steel drums for background music. You could even mix it up a little with some Jimmy Buffet or Reggae music.Appetizers: I found a great Caribbean Themed recipe that your guests are sure to loveJERK CHICKEN ON SUGAR CANE SKEWERS WITH A BLACKBERRY BRANDY DIPPING SAUCEIngredients for Jerk Chicken:6 boneless, skinless, half chicken breasts, each cut into 6 nuggets1 cup commercially prepared Jamaican jerk seasoning36 sugar cane skewersCanola oil for grill panPreparation for Jerk Chicken:Place chicken nuggets into a large bowl and pour jerk seasonig over chicken.

  • Themed Party Planning
Posted on Thursday, April 30th, 2009 in Themed Party Ideas – Comments: (0)
Many people enjoy themed party planning and why not it’s a great stress reliever for the end of the work week. One suggestion you might want to keep in mind would be, when planning a party that is themed and requires your guest to dress up, make sure all your guests are well informed of your themed party idea. Have a few back-up costume tips to help  your guests out, so it is fun for them and not frustrating.
