Jonas Wedding Nuptials

2010
01.14

The Jonas Wedding Nuptials were held on Saturday December 19, 2009, at 5:00 P.M., a lot of young girl’s hearts were broken just a little. On this day Kevin Jonas of the one and only JONAS Brothers, and his love Danielle Deleasa said I do at Oheka Castle which is a sprawling estate on Long Island, New York. The youngest Jonas Brother Nick, stated during an interview with Kelly Ripa of the Live with Regis and Kelly show, that when Kevin saw his bride to be, walking down the isle, his lip began to quiver just before tears of joy began to flow, Brother Nick said it was very touching. What young girl wouldn’t want to be in Danielle’s shoes!

During the reception it was said the special wedding song chosen by the newlyweds was “Always in My Heart” by Rascall Flatts, and that the guests were served a myriad of dishes ranging from Asian, to Caribbean, and Italian. Kevin and the new Mrs. Jonas (Danielle) made a statement saying “We’re so happy that we’re finally married and we were able to share the special moment with family, friends and loved ones.” Like many Newlyweds the new Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Jonas decided to get their marriage off on the right foot with a romantic honeymoon in Mexico.

If your a huge fan of the Jonas Brothers, then don’t have another party until you get one of these Jonas Brothers party kits.  Look for all the Jonas Brothers products and party supplies at www.besthaloweencostumes.com It’s hard to beat our low prices.

Decorating Your Man Cave

2010
01.10

Man Cave

My man cave has come a long way from the concrete floor, walls and truss ceiling. I studded the walls in small sections with cheap grade studs. Then drywalled the ceiling and walls in sections as money became available. A little paint, a nice upgrade of indoor outdoor carpet, some recess lighting and the room was complete. All in all it took about a year on the shell of my room. I wanted the room to be my space, but I also wanted on special occasions, to use the room as an overflow for guests during holiday parties and such. You can decorate your man cave in the theme that best fits your personality and your budget. I do have a lightly used recliner and love seat for comfort, and a 32″ flat screen TV. Even though I have a large room, that size TV seems to work best. My decorating preferences run to another era in time, in particular the 50′s and 60′s. As you can see my walls are decorated with the theme of cars from that era (1957 Chevy’s are my favorite), my favorite sports team of the era “The Yankees”, and old movie stars such as James Dean, and Humphrey Bogart. Originally the tile area was going to have a bar. I’ve changed my mind since starting, and in going with the time era theme, I decided to build a diner style booth. Some plywood, studs, foam and vinyl covering is all you will need. I’m thinking of adding a small table top decoration, like a small “juke box” CD player filled with music of the 50′s and 60′s. Good luck in decorating your man cave, and take your time, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

On a side note my wife has requested she be able to use the room once a year for a sock hop type party, with all our friends. I figure since the entire room is mine for 99.9% of the year, and the party is from my favorite era what the heck. I’ll grease back my hair into a D.A.,  and throw on my leather jacket, watch my wife dance around in her poodle skirt, and play songs like “The Twist” by Chubby Checker. We even found party supplies for the era and costumes for our friends to wear to the party from a web site called Best Haloween Costumes.

Class Reunion To Class Birthday Party

2009
10.07

We recently celebrated our 30 year class reunion. We decided to have it in an outdoor pavilion, casual dress with a cookout style catered dinner. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was totally laid back and comfortable and the “Back Yard” style dinner instead of being uncomfortable in suits, dresses, and paying for a $50.00 a plate dinner. We usually have our reunion every five years. At this our 30 year reunion class-mates started talking about a 50 year class birthday party. What a blast that would be! Everyone loved the thought of staying with the laid back atmosphere. During our reunion we had already narrowed our birthday theme down to a Luau or a 50′s Sock Hop. We have actually planned for both ideas. As far as party supplies and decorations go. The committee that was quickly formed will soon be taking a class vote.

For the Luau themed party some party decoration ideas were:

  • Tiki torches – in ground and table top styles
  • paper lanterns and small decorative string lights
  • faux palm trees
  • Luau party music
  • Luau – Caribbean costumes and leis
  • Tropical design place settings
  • Thinking of having a limbo contest

For the 50′s Sock Hop themed party some party ideas were:

  • Neon food signs
  • 50′s music for the stroll
  • Class mates could show in poodle skirts and leather jackets

Right now the food is undecided, but we were tossing around the idea of baked hams and pineapples with everyone bringing a side dish. Of course drinks will be provided. We found this type of party to be inexpensive, and can keep the cost down to around $10.00 per person. We believe around 200 class mates will join in on the Class 50th birthday celebration, so at $10.00 per person the hall (pavilion), DJ, decorations, and drinks will be covered! As I said it’s all in the works. If you have any ideas for me let me know by leaving a comment.

in the alley

Many people enjoy themed party planning and why not it’s a great stress reliever for the end of the work week. One suggestion you might want to keep in mind would be, when planning a party that is themed and requires your guest to dress up, make sure all your guests are well informed of your themed party idea. Have a few back-up costume tips to help  your guests out, so it is fun for them and not frustrating.

Hollywood Themed Party Ideas

2009
04.21

Who doesn’t have a favorite actor or actress? Or a favorite movie of all time. There are many Hollywood Themed Party Ideas, but here is one to make your party Oscar worthy.

Have your gets come as their favorite Hollywood Movie Star. This can be the actual actor or actress, or a character they have played in the movies. Once the party gets going and everyone is having fun, have your guests take turns portraying something their character would say or do in one of  their movies (example: Clint Eastwood would say “Make my day”). When everyone is done give your own little Oscars for “Best Actress” , “Best Actor” and so on.

Hope your party is an Oscar winner.

Caribbean Themed Party Ideas

2009
04.20

Themed Caribbean Parties are great to have any time of year. Indoors or outdoors there always lots of fun. If you’re looking for some Themed Party Ideas here are a few.

Invitations: Here is a cool idea a friend of mine tried. Go to your nearest dollar general store or cheap discount store and buy several different pairs of colorful rubber flip flops. Write your party information on the back of each flip flop and hand deliver to your guests.  I’m sure they will love the idea.

Attire: Have your guests come dressed in your themed party style. You could suggest they wear bright colorful cloths, a cool pair of cut off’s, a light summery dress, and of course flip flops optional.

Music: how about a CD with steel drums for background music. You could even mix it up a little with some Jimmy Buffet or Reggae music.

Appetizers: I found a great Caribbean Themed recipe that your guests are sure to love

Spear each chicken nugget with a sugar cane skewer. Heat a lightly oiled grill pan over medium-high heat. Add skewered chicken to skillet and cook, turning chicken over after 3 minutes, until done and chicken is no longer pink, about 6 minutes total. Remove from pan and repeat cooking process with remaining chicken. Arrange on serving platter and serve hot with Blackberry Brandy Dipping Sauce on the side.
